The Cascades of Life
Parenting is like this simple stream. You’re handed a screaming baby and your basic instinct is to nurture its basic needs, aka keep the little bugger from screaming all the time! Then he/she starts crawling and walking, and we realize it’s a big world out there! And we need to protect him/her. Then they go to the park, or preschool, or better yet, released to the jungles of siblinghood, and we need to nurture them socially and emotionally. The next chapter of life begins: school… and you get the idea. Sometimes we get so consumed with the urgency of immediate needs and wants that we forget the big picture. As parents, our day-to-day responsibilities really trickle into something much bigger!!
We are impacting the world as we shape our littles into future global citizens. Seems daunting, right? You’ve got this!! Enjoy each moment of each day. Enjoy each sleepless night and dirty diaper. Every sibling fight and slammed door is a piece of their history, every talk about life and kissed boo-boo is their top of a cascade, a waterfall of life. Keep up the great job of doing the hardest and most important role of your life.
